INVISALIGN GO®
With Invisalign® treatment, your Invisalign® trained doctor will take fast and precise 3D digital scans of your teeth1 using the iTero™ element scanner, and work with you to map out a custom treatment plan that you are happy with.
Invisalign® clear aligners can help straighten minor to complex teeth misalignment. The length of treatment can take on average 6 months, but this is dictated by your Invisalign® doctor depending on how complicated your case is. Most people feel a difference wearing Invisalign® aligners after three months, and results are usually noticeable after six months.
ICON® RESIN INFILTRATION
If you have local discoloration that does not respond very well to whitening, then your dentist may discuss whitening in conjunction with more in-depth procedures, such as micro-abrasion, ICON resin infiltration treatment, composite bonding, crowns or veneers. ICON provides a simple treatment solution for discoloration on smooth surfaces. Whether early caries, white spots or fluorosis – infiltration with Icon is painless, drill-less and only takes one visit.
VENEERS
Cosmetic veneering allows a conservative approach to reshaping your smile.
WHAT ARE PORCELAIN VENEERS?
They are razor-thin custom made shells of specially-shaped porcelain, which are glued to the front of your teeth. Veneers are crafted of-translucent tooth-coloured, highly compressed porcelain that is highly durable. They cosmetically modify teeth that are discoloured, chipped, misshapen, or slightly crocked. Cosmetic veneers cost less than crowns, and they do not stain. They can be skinny like a contact lens and are ideal for people who want a perfect smile.
With the help of our laboratory, custom made superior veneers can be made to get the patient a charming smile with minimal tooth intervention.
COMPOSITE BONDING
Composite bonding is a cosmetic dental procedure where a tooth-coloured resin material (composite) is applied to the teeth to repair damage, improve appearance, or close gaps. The composite resin is shaped, moulded, and then hardened using UV light, bonding it to the tooth. This method is often used to fix chipped or cracked teeth, make teeth look longer, change their shape, or improve their colour. It's a relatively quick and cost-effective way to enhance the aesthetics of a smile without damaging the natural tooth.
TEETH WHITENING
You are one step closer to the most effective and comfortable, professional teeth whitening experience available!
Teeth whitening is more effective on teeth that are on the yellow and white spectrum. Teeth that are shades of brown and grey are more difficult to whiten and may require a longer treatment, or stronger whitening agents. Existing fillings/crowns will not change colour.
We use the Award winning Boutique Whitening® products according to your needs.
ONLAYS, CROWNS AND BRIDGE WORK
Dental Crowns cover the entire visible surface of the affected tooth. As we age, many of us find that our teeth are no longer structurally sound. Lost fillings, grinding, age, decay, heavy improper biting can lead to significant scale defects in a tooth's surface. It adds strength, durability, and overall stability of the tooth.
Preparation for a private crown would take ONE visit. Depending on the material (reinforced composite, hybrid ceramic, ultra durable porcelain-lithium disilicate) we normally require one long or two same day appointments. What ever the material of choice we fit your private crown the same day.
NHS crowns are non precious metal for back teeth and composite material on front teeth.
Crowns can be extended with a suspended artificial tooth that can cover a missing tooth, called Bridge.
Alternatively, adhesive bridges with wings that glue on to adjacent teeth. (see animation sequence below)
Cosmetic Crown and bridgework materials can be the high-end high strength cosmetic Zirconia, or the cosmetic pressed porcelain Emax or Procera.
IMPLANTS
Dental implants are the best and most scientifically successful fixed way to replace missing teeth.
If you are self-conscious due to missing teeth, wear dentures that are very uncomfortable and tedious, or don't have teeth that are strong enough to place a bridge, speak to your dentist about an implant.
Implants are made up of titanium and other materials that are compatible with the human body. The implant is compatible with bone and will be allowed to integrate with the bone over three to six months. They are posts, surgically inserted in the jaw, where they function as the foundation that solidly holds the artificial teeth.
The development and use of implants are one of the most significant advances in dentistry in the past 40 years.
ORTHODONTICS
Orthodontic treatment is available to all patients of all ages and provides patients with the opportunity to receive treatment which is tailor-made to suit their individual needs and requirements. We refer patients under 18 years old and for fixed braces to various practices across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
A root canal treatment is a dental procedure used to treat an infected or damaged tooth pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth that contains nerves and blood vessels). During the procedure, the dentist removes the infected or damaged pulp, cleans and disinfects the inside of the tooth, and then fills and seals it to prevent further infection. The treated tooth is usually restored with a crown, onlay or filling to provide protection and restore function.
If the root canal treatment is provided privately we use BioRoot RCS® for its antimicrobial properties, bioactivity and reliable long term results.
FILLINGS
A dental filling is a treatment used to restore the function and integrity of a tooth that has been damaged by decay, fractures, or wear. During the procedure, the dentist removes the decayed or damaged part of the tooth, cleans the affected area, and then fills the cavity with a filling material. This helps to prevent further decay, restore the tooth's normal function, and maintain its shape.
Amalgam Fillings: Made from a mixture of metals including silver, up to 50% mercury, tin, and copper. Amalgam filling is the material of choice for back teeth under NHS. Amalgam expands and contracts more than natural tooth material when exposed to hot and cold temperatures. Over time, this can cause stress on the tooth, leading to cracks or fractures. Some people may be allergic or sensitive to the metals used in amalgam fillings, including mercury, silver, and copper. This can lead to allergic reactions or discomfort for some individuals. The placement of amalgam fillings often requires the removal of more healthy tooth structure compared to composite fillings. This is because the dentist needs to create a specific shape within the cavity for the amalgam to stay in place, which can weaken the tooth.
Composite Fillings: Made from a tooth-coloured resin material that can be matched to the natural colour of your teeth. Composite fillings bond directly to the tooth structure, providing support to the remaining tooth and helping to prevent breakage. This bonding capability can also strengthen the tooth, reducing the risk of further damage. Unlike amalgam fillings, which may require the removal of more healthy tooth structure to create a space for the filling, composite fillings allow for a more conservative approach. This means less drilling and preservation of more natural tooth structure. Composite fillings are hardened using a special curing light, allowing them to set quickly and making the treatment process faster for patients.
Guided Biofilm Therapy®
This contemporary approach begins with sub- and supragingival biofilm removal using air-polishing technology with AIRFLOW® PLUS® Powder. This erythritol-based powder guarantees targeted, gentle, risk-orientated removal of the biofilm to support the initial diagnosis.
This is followed by the minimally invasive removal of mineralised build-up with PIEZON® NO PAIN. This approach has many additional benefits, including short treatment times and maximum comfort for both the technician and the patient. GBT is minimally invasive. Polishing paste and rubber cups are no longer necessary.
With GBT, we can finally carry out professional biofilm management effectively, gently, safely, quickly, comfortably and without pain.
DENTURES
It is true sometimes teeth are beyond repair and must be extracted, but then missing teeth options are dentures (plates), implants or bridgework.
We offer a variety of materials such us acrylic, hardened Lucitone plastic, non-acrylics, and reinforced cobalt-chromium alloy mix. NHS and Private options available.
Traditional dentures take about six to eight weeks to manufacture unless an immediate one is specified.
With digital dentistry we minimized the visit and have more predictable results.
A spare denture is always a good idea, mainly if front teeth are involved.
Higher quality private dentures are designed to showcase a high-quality denture with a better fit and more comfort overall.
The mouth gradually alters with time, particularly a mouth without teeth. But for people who have no teeth, they can loose 1/2mm of jaw height a year. Medical conditions such as osteoporosis can cause an increase in shrinkage of bone. As the jawbone shrinks, so does the soft tissue which we call ridges that support dentures. Ridges can shrink up to 7mm in 10 years.
SURGICAL EXTRACTIONS using PIEZOTOME
An extraction means to have a tooth removed, usually because of decay, tooth degeneration, or infection. If an alternative to removal is possible, patients will always be informed
Piezotome provides healing benefits when extractions are made easy by the use of ultrasonic technology. The Piezotome is an exciting modality that enables us to extract teeth without disturbing adjacent teeth, bone, and soft tissue. This allows less post-operative discomfort after your extractions.
